Sleepy Eye, Minnesota is located on the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Highway about 120 miles southwest of Minneapolis by the shores of Lake Sleepy Eye in Brown
County. Rich in history, this prairie town was named after Ish Tak Ha Ba (Sleepy
Eye), a Sisseton Dakota Indian chief. It has a population of 3,740 and
